Meet Our Directors

Hugh Higgins
B.Arch, MRIAI, RIAI Architect Accredited in Conservation at Grade 3
Hugh studied architecture at University College Dublin and is a member of the RIAI as well as a Grade 3 Accredited Conservation Architect. With over 30 years’ experience in practice, he has worked in Dublin and New York and joined Crean Salley Architects in 2015. His portfolio includes commercial, residential, social housing, healthcare, industrial, and sports projects of varying scales and complexity. Hugh has extensive experience collaborating with public bodies and AHBs to deliver new housing within the existing built environment. As a director at CSA, Hugh’s creative approach, combined with strong leadership and teamwork skills, ensures projects are both well-conceived and effectively delivered.

Barry Veale
B Arch, BSc Arch
Barry studied architecture at Waterford Institute of Technology, now South Eastern Technological University, and later completed his Postgraduate Diploma in Architectural Practice at Technological University Dublin, where he was awarded the O’Keeffe Silver Medal for Academic Excellence in Professional Practice. With over 10 years’ experience across a diverse range of project types in Ireland and the UK, he has worked in medium-sized commercial practices before joining Crean Salley Architects in 2017. His portfolio includes office and commercial developments, fit-outs, hospitality, pharmaceutical and manufacturing projects, sports and leisure facilities, one-off residential homes, multi-unit and student housing, and social housing schemes. Barry has a strong interest in conceptual design, project management, construction detailing, contemporary and flexible design approaches, and adaptive architectural principles. As a Director at CSA, Barry’s design approach is grounded in creativity and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that each project is thoroughly considered, carefully resolved, and consistently shaped around the current and future needs of the client.

Alannah Kidney
MRIAI, RIAI Architect Accredited in Conservation at Grade 3
Alannah holds a Master’s degree in Architecture from the University of Edinburgh. A member of the RIAI and a Grade 3 Accredited Conservation Architect, she has over ten years’ experience across a broad range of project types in Ireland and Scotland. In 2024, she received the O’Keeffe Silver Medal for Academic Excellence in Professional Practice. Her portfolio spans commercial, residential, social housing, and sports projects, with a particular focus on conservation practice. She has an interest in adaptive re-use and urban densification. Central to her work is a client-focused approach, underpinned by creativity, clear communication, and effective collaboration with craftspeople and specialists.
